Schooldays

The bell rings out the shibboleths.
Clay pellets each inscribed with "NO".
And the childhood toy is pushed into the corner.

The rope came from the climbing frame at the little country school where Toby went for her first two years schooling. Being on the Board of Trustees had its advantages - a working bee in the playground could provide some interesting raw materials for assemblage works.

You may have come to this page on a homeschooling search. We homeschooled our daughter Toby from when she was 7 until, at 15, she decided she should do the last couple of years of high school. It suited her well. No matter how good a classroom teacher, they cannot cope with the needs of the different. So Toby stayed at home, reading, dreaming. Sitting the Science and Maths exams designed for older students, for the enjoyment of learning and the fun of being tested.
Now she's at medical school, back in the "proper" world. And enjoying it.
